This training—which is designed for quality professionals and infection preventionists—will include education on sanitization of sterile compounding primary and secondary engineering controls, gloved fingertip sampling, environmental monitoring, and an overview of aseptic work practices.

Registration for this session includes access to two of CriticalPoint’s eLearning lessons for Viable Facility Sampling Metrics. These two lessons and post tests must be completed by all participants prior to the scheduled training.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided; registration and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m.

CHA’s Emergency Department Directors and Emergency Department Nursing Directors Meeting Groups are hosting a panel presentation by federal officials entitled: The Next Phase of the Opioid Epidemic at the Connecticut Hospital Association on Thursday, May 14, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  

Panelists committed to date include:

John McGough, New England Regional Director, United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS),

Tom Coderre, Regional Administrator (Region 1), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA),

Chris Bersani, Deputy Regional Administrator and the National Lead for Behavioral Health for the Office of Regional Operations of the Health Resources Services Administration,

Timothy J. Pappalardo, MSW, Commander, U.S. Public Health Service, Office of Program Operations and Local Engagement, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and 

Paul Jacobsen, Executive Officer, HHS New England Region.

Topics to be addressed include the past, present, and future state of the opioid crisis, the emerging situation regarding methamphetamines and other substances (e.g., synthetic Fentanyl and other poly-drugs), and the accompanying risk and increase in violence against healthcare providers in all settings.
