In today’s healthcare environment, resources are limited. Managers are challenged to comply  with budgetary constraints, get the most out of their budgeted resources, and achieve both their departmental objectives and those of the organization.  The need for a sound approach to budget management is paramount.  Leaders must be adept at using proven tools to identify and correct performance problems.

This day-long program will focus on problem identification, budget management tools like  volume adjusted variance analysis, using benchmarking and expense forecasting to control  resource consumption, and developing effective remedial plans to correct performance  deviations. Topics covered include:
• Identifying and categorizing performance problems
• Tools for managing the budget
• Reducing spending
• Developing remedial plans

This session is taught by William J. Ward, Jr., associate professor at Johns Hopkins University and popular presenter for CHA Members.

This is session six of the six-session Essential Skills Every Leader Needs education series. If you'd like to register for the full six-session series, please e-mail CHA Education Services at EducationServices@chime.org.
