IBF: Preparing for Major October Update: Information Blocking

Effective October 6, 2022, the 21st Century Cures Act Information Blocking Rule will begin a new phase resulting in the scope of data subject to the rule shifting from the United States Core Data for Interoperability data set (USCDI), to the full designated record set as defined in HIPAA.  While many provider organizations have expressed concerns about the difficulty of meeting the October deadline, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), the federal entity that oversees the information blocking rule, has signaled that providers should prepare for the compliance deadline, as it is unlikely to be extended.      

This one-hour inter-functional program will provide an overview of the key issues for providers as they prepare for the updated rule, including:

• Expectations for compliance, as outlined by ONC
• Relevant information blocking exceptions
• Best practices for documentation
