They also help keep blood vessels from constricting in the heart, brain, and body.
Primary PCI Received Within 90 Minutes of Hospital Arrival
The procedures called Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI) are among those that are the most effective for opening blocked blood vessels that cause heart attacks. Doctors may perform PCI, or give medicine to open the blockage, and in some cases, may do both. PCI's are procedures that open blocked blood vessels and improve the blood flow to the muscle. A PCI is performed by a doctor who inserts a long flexible tube called a catheter through your leg and guides it through the blood vessels to the blockage.

Death Rate Within 30 Days of Admission
"Death Rate Within 30 Days of Admission" is when patients die within 30 days of their admission to a hospital. The death rates for each hospital are compared to the U.S. National Rate. The rates take into account how sick patients were before they were admitted to the hospital. For each time period, when both the hospital data point (red) and the national data point (green) are between the red brackets, the hospital’s death rate is no different than the national rate.
Readmission Rate Within 30 Days of Discharge
"30-Day Readmission" is when patients who have had a recent hospital stay need to go back into a hospital again within 30 days of their discharge. The rates of readmission for each hospital are compared to the U.S. National Rate. The rates take into account how sick patients were before they were admitted to the hospital. For each time period, when both the hospital data point (red) and the national data point (green) are between the red brackets, the hospital’s readmission rate is no different than the national rate.
